Calgary Herald - On the Big Tree Trail - Sept. 8/12

After hiking the three-kilometre loop trail and exploring the tide pools, we'd worked up an appetite and, luckily, had a three-course gourmet dinner in store back at the lodge - featuring local salmon and crab bought right off the town's dock. Not only is it one of the best meals we've had in years, but it's also a chance to meet other guests - half of whom Cash estimates come to Port Renfrew specifically to see big trees.  READ FULL ARTICLE

"This Cedar West Coast Lodge is hands down the best place to stay, so book ahead. There are 4 comfy suites, a cabin and 3 surprisingly luxurious Yurts to choose from. There's also a large deck with hot tub, views and 65 ha to explore. The food is exceptional, so stay for dinner. Can arrange shuttles from trail heads or town." WWW.TRIPWOLF.COM

"The Cash's meld Island influences with their combined 40 years of culinary experience. Breakfasts feature blueberry and peach pancakes, scrambled eggs, crumpets and fruit salad. Our first dinner consisted of garden green and smoked salmon, local halibut on sweet black rice, garden carrots and snow peas. Our second night, we enjoyed a fabulous Hubbard squash soup, farm chicken with chanterelle and angel-wing mushroom demi-glace, and scallop potatoes perfectly seasoned with tarragon, rosemary and thyme from the garden."    Katherine Gibson

"Chef/Owners Tim and John Cash have created a mini-paradise among towering firs. A great room with come-as-you-are comfort showcases native carver Rob Flewelyn's masterpieces. The Lodge is offering a special Valentine's package including fois gras, truffle oil and Ivory Salmon served with warm hospitality."
